In response to a petition aimed at closing a section of Market Street: this is not the brightest idea for Potsdam. The flow of traffic would be adversely affected. Those businesses at that end of the street would actually lose customers because there is no close alternative parking. I, for one, would not park two blocks away to go get bagels! We are not Burlington! The shops on that section of town in Burlington are upscale. Potsdam is not upscale! Please think this through before you do something that will cause more harm than good. Octoberfest? Sure, just what we need; more drinking downtown and more problems for our police. The shop owners need to think twice about the effect it will really have on their businesses if their customers have to walk two or more blocks in the dead of winter to get to their stores.
