This is in response to the person who wrote “Get out of Ozland” (Nov. 17-23) in response to my previous Sound Off. Of course there are problems. There are problems all over the world, not just in St. Lawrence County. And when people have legitimate concerns, I think that Sound Off is a great place to voice them while being able to maintain anonymity. I do, however, think that people complain about a lot of ridiculous, unnecessary, and nit-picky things. And I also think that sometimes people in the North Country go out of their way to be unnecessarily inconsiderate to others. I like to call these people “jerks,” and yes, I realize that unfortunately, they are everywhere. Still, these inconsiderate behaviors are one of the biggest things I see people complaining about. I’m not suggesting that everyone look through rose-colored glasses and be all happy and sunshiney all the time. Obviously that’s not realistic, especially in current economic times. All I’m suggesting is that we should try to be nicer and more considerate to each other, and try to let the little things go that don’t matter in the big scheme of things instead of whining about every little thing that ticks us off. I think if everyone tried to do that, St. Lawrence County would be a much more pleasant place, despite the added hardships that we all face living here. But, go figure, someone would complain about me trying to be positive. Long live negativity!
