In response to the eloquent, “Oil for Americans Only,” (Sound Off, June 22-28). I just want to pass on some information because it sounds like you are a tad confused on how the oil market works. Oil is traded on a world market, and the United States does not have enough petroleum to increase the global supply, which would reduce demand -- and thus the price -- for fuel. The U.S. produced about 7 percent of what was produced in the entire world. And with the U.S. being the largest consumer of petroleum, I would be careful what you wish for, in regards to saying that American oil should just be for Americans. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions, on the other hand everyone is not entitled to have their own facts. There are some excellent resources out there, like Google.
