Funding for I-98 unlikely despite claims by advocacy group

Democratic party Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently stood in front of an audience in Potsdam wherein a group comprised of St. Lawrence County legislators, government agency bureaucrats, union special-interest supporters along with Jason Clark’s lobbying group, all gathered, sheep-like, wearing their “I-98” lapel pins to hear their fondest dream come true. In this moment, the governor carved a careful political position, promising that all things are theoretically possible, while simultaneously affirming what we all know; that I-98 is a far-fetched and economically unrealistic and unwarranted pipe-dream. Why wouldn’t he give an answer like this? After all, he’s never going to have to come down on one side or the other. He got to please everybody. But, not to be discouraged, Jason Clark and company have declared victory and have renewed their clubhouse pledge to I-98: “We’ve never been closer! We’re off to see the wizard!”
