In response to the Sound Off “Disrespect to Flag” which appeared in the June 27-July 3 issue of North Country This Week, I would like to correct an error. The American flag flying on top of the silo on Waterman Hill is in fact lit up every night, and has been for some time now. The flag is also brand new and in excellent condition. If the time comes that this is no longer the case, the old flag will be removed and a new flag will take its place. The flag was placed on the silo, along with the statue of the fireman, to honor and give thanks to those who fight for and serve this country in whatever way that might be. If that does not show respect for the United States of America, I do not know what does.
