It really appalls me that the governing powers are vying for New Yorkers to add another Senate seat. This consists of another Senate salary, at least one office, telephone and computer access, a staff to run operations, not to mention more costs. The cost would more than likely be close to if not more than $1 million. Who is going to pay for the upkeep of this seat? We are! Currently there are better options to spend our hard-earned money. With the state of finances the way it is, why would anyone want to add to the cost that is already higher than desired? How can the powers that be even think of adding such a cost when the state worker’s unions have made financial concessions because the powers that be said there wasn’t any money? If and when the financial times of New York improves, then this may be an option that New York may and can consider. Until then, please, Senate, be smart about how you are going to spend our money. Defeat the addition of another Senate seat.
