In my attempt in staying neutral in the crossbow dilemma, I have two questions for the DEC. First, shouldn’t a crossbow hunter have to take the mandatory bow course that a traditional bow hunter is required to take? An arrow hit is an arrow hit whether it comes from a bow, a crossbow or a bazooka. Secondly, aren’t these two different weapons? A traditional bow requires the pulling back, holding 60 to 80 pounds with lots of movement, etc., whereas a crossbow is shot similarly to a rifle. Therefore, shouldn’t there be a separate season? As far as losing hunters, my feeling on that is I’m allowed one bow tag while large land owners are handed 50 nuisance permits. As always, money talks. If we are going to do this, lets take our time and attempt to please everyone.
