County taxes too high to discuss tax cap override

I sometimes think I must be missing something regarding our county government. I’m reading today that our illustrious legislators have scheduled a public hearing at the end of August for the purpose of overriding the state tax cap. This will undoubtedly be attended by many county employees. (Surprise! Surprise!) Kudos to legislators Kevin Acres and Mark Akins who opposed the hearing. Last week it was a move to raise the sales tax. With our county unemployment rate probably the highest in the state, much higher than the national average, does this make any sense? Many county residents are struggling now to pay their taxes. To me the solution is common sense. Cut spending as the private sector does
