This is in response to “Go with Private Healthcare” Sound Off, March 14-20: Please take a moment to consider and respect the opinion of a long time patient. The thought of the proposed action becoming reality is frightening. The employees and patients acquire a mutual trust and respect amongst ourselves. Being sick, elderly and/or disabled, we see many different faces, so it’s a comfort for us to have one constant, the faces of our home health aides and nurses. Many of the nurses know their patients so well that they are able to pick up something may not be right, simply by a look, tone, or some other seemingly small gesture. They provide emotional support as well as medical, intended or not. As patients, most of us fight for what health we have; please don’t make us fight for something that brightens many of our days.
