As a bike commuter living in Potsdam, I have had entirely too many close calls with speeding vehicles on Elm, Main and Market streets. It amazes me that so many people drive so aggressively in small, crowded downtown Potsdam. Traffic lights are ignored, stop signs are rolled through, cars speed through parking lots on a daily basis. A very effective, inexpensive solution to this is traffic-calming devices. While a traffic light can be run, a bump forces drivers to slow down. Why not place a series of these along the major roads and at all cross walks in Potsdam?
