It is amazing to me how some political types think that they are so “above it all” that they can just wish away any holder of a differing opinion set. Green Party candidate for the 21st Congressional District race Matt Funiciello expresses his opinion that the Democrats’ anointed one should just quit the race, along with any other members of that party who might consider running for that seat. The labor union leader in the video of Mike Derrick’s grand opening in Potsdam actually suggested that Mr. Funiciello should be “under the green” (about a minute and forty seconds into it) before his calling our current Congresswoman “Elsie the cow.” Talk about straying far away from informed, respectful, adult discourse. In the schools, such behavior is likely to be labeled bullying and pilloried. But wait, maybe these fellows are above it all. If nobody calls them out on their self-centered, mean-spirited words and intentions, then it becomes the new normal.
