OGDENSBURG -- An Ogdensburg man whom state police say resisted arrest after violating a stay-away order has been jailed.
Shortly before noon Tuesday, troopers were called to investigate the alleged harassment by Gregory J. Gilbert, 39, of 588 Love Joy Rd., of his ex-girlfriend in spite of a St. Lawrence County Court stay-away order of protection. Police say they had received reports that Gilbert had persisted in calling her, harassing her, and showing up at her house.
Later in the day, troopers found Gilbert at his residence, where they say he attempted to stop patrols from taking him into custody. After a slight struggle, state police say they took him to the Ogdenbsurg station, where he was processed, and then to Town of Morristown Court, where he was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, and two felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt
Bail was set at $10,000. Gilbert was taken to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
Gilbert is due back in court on Aug. 27.
