LAWRENCE -- A Winthrop man is charged with abusing his dogs after one was found with a chain embedded into the skin of its neck, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.
Marvin Taylor, 42, of State Highway 11, was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a felony, and failure to provide adequate food, water and shelter, a misdemeanor.
The charges stemmed from a complaint filed by the dog control officer, who said one of the dogs had a chain around its neck that became embedded into the animal's skin.
Deputies said Taylor owned two black lab mixed dogs that appeared to be emaciated from lack of food.
Both dogs were taken to a local animal clinic for medical care.
Taylor was issued appearance tickets and order to return to court at a later date.
