Mr. Jay A. Murray, age 69, of Potsdam, passed away at home with his family on December 29th in the Town of Parishville. There will be no calling hours or funeral. There will be a memorial service at a later date yet to be determined. Contributions in Mr. Murray’s memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or to the Potsdam Humane Society.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Joan Murray of Potsdam; sons Jimmy (Claudia) McIntosh of Parishville, Dale (Mary) McIntosh of Hannawa Falls and Chad (Lori) Murray of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Lori (Ken) Eurto of Potsdam; brothers Bob, Rick and Lynn Murray all of Madrid; a sister, Shirley Perkins of Colton; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary Murray; his brothers, Ronnie and Marshall Murray; and two grandchildren Matthew and Alice McIntosh.
Mr. Jay A. Murray was born July 29, 1943 in Ogdensburg, to Robert John and Mary Boileau Murray. He attended Madrid Schools. He then served in the United States Army from 1961-64. He served in the 11 Bravo Infantry. After his honorable discharge he returned back to the States. He was married to Joan Pearl on June 5, 1971 in Madrid.
Jay worked at Clarkson University for over 27 years. He was a member of the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club, the Madrid American Legion Post 1513 for 31 years, the Hannawa Falls Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and the Parishville ATV club for the past year. He also enjoyed competing in Archery competitions.
