To The Editor:
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars recently hosted a spaghetti dinner to help Cub Scout Pack 2 offset beginning of the year expenses.
Unfortunately, due to unforseen problems, the VFW was unable to host the dinner at its Post. The Cub Scouts thank Darles and Jim Sovie for working all day moving, preparing, and serving the dinner. You saved the day. Thank you. We thank the Presbyterian Church for lending us their kitchen and Fellowship Hall, also at the last moment. Thank you to Jreck's Subs for donating take out containers, and to North Country Now for announcing the change of place for the dinner at the last moment. The Cub Scouts also thank their parents for helping us serve, and Melanie Sears for making the signs and preparing the food.
Cub Scouts is a year round program and many organizations help us with the expenses and program. Thank you to the Methodist Church for providing a safe place for us to meet. Thank you to Price Chopper, Howland Pump, and YesterYear's Vintage Doors for donating supplies, to Walmart for allowing us to hold our Scouting for Food Project at your store, to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for teaching us the proper flag etiquette.
Thank you to the New York State Correction Officers and Police Benevolent Association for your generous donation so we could purchase many camping supplies. Thank you to the Jacques Cartier State Park staff for providing the beautiful space on the campground for us to set up camp. We had fun. Thank you to the Ogdensburg Journal and North Country Now for publishing our news and to the Yes FM, QCountry, and PAC radio stations for allowing us to record the Public Service Announcement.
We have visited the Blake Gendebien Family farm, St. Lawrence River Decoys, and City Hall. The Scouts have enjoyed all of the activities and visits of the past year. One highlight of the Scouting program is the Canton Day Camp. The boys appreciate the work of the BSA volunteers who organize and pack so much fun into four days!
