BRASHER -- Yvonne Grace Ward, 81, recently residing at LBSH in Brasher Falls and formerly of the Maple Ridge Road, Brasher Falls, passed away on Tuesday, December 19 at the Highland Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Yvonne was born July 5, 1936 in Brasher, the daughter of George and Gladys (Deon) LaVare.
Yvonne married Lyle Ward on July 9, 1976 and enjoyed over 35 years of marriage until Lyle’s passing on October 13, 2011.
Yvonne is survived by her children from a prior marriage, David Bell and companion Sharlene Durham of Norfolk, Jeffrey Bell of St. Regis Falls, Laurie Andrews and David Westurn of Bombay, Donald Bell Jr. of Burke, Randy Bell and Peter Bell of Stockholm; and her step-children, Michael and Angela Ward of Brasher Falls, Robert Ward of Brasher Falls, Kevin and Jane Ward of Massena, and Jeffery and Christina Ward of Brasher Falls; and numerous grand-children and great grand-children. Also surviving Yvonne are her sisters Margaret Sova, Linda Forte and Shirley Wilson.
In addition to her husband, Yvonne was predeceased by her brothers Philip LaVare, Robert LaVare, Donald LaVare, Gerald LaVare and Vernon LaVare and her sisters Pauline Barse, Phyllis Sienkiewycz, and Elizabeth Baile.
Yvonne was a home maker who enjoyed crocheting and making pies and donuts. She loved and adored spending time with her grand-children and great grand-children.
A time of visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 23 from 4-6 at the Knapp Station Community Church, 3035 CO Road 47 Norwood. Funeral services celebrating Yvonne’s life will commence at 6 p.m. at the church.
