MASSENA -- A Mass of Christian Burial for 70 year old Virginal D. McGregor, a resident of 35 Taylor Ave and formerly of Norwood, will be held Friday, December 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Norwood with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the spring in the Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Mr. McGregor passed away late Saturday evening, December 23, 2017.
Virginal is survived by his two daughters, Mary Lynn and Bernard Sharlow, Norwood and Anne Jones, Massena; his three beloved grandchildren, Zachary McGregor; Britney and Travis Burns and Kali Sharlow; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine McGregor, Norfolk; and a half sister, Linda Geandrew, Potsdam.
Virginal was pre-deceased by his wife Mary; and two brothers, Carlton and Paul McGregor.
Born in Potsdam, on December 22, 1947 to the late Bernard and Margaritte Geandrew McGregor, Virginal graduated from High School and entered the U.S. Navy serving as a Seebee in Vietnam from 1965-1968. He married Mary Murray on January 31, 1967. Mary passed away in 2004.
Virginal worked as a machine operator and mechanic at Elliott’s Lumber in Potsdam for many years. He was a member of the Norfolk American Legion Post 925 and enjoyed making an occasional trip to the casino, scratching off lotto tickets, watching gameshows and fishing.
