COLTON -- Funeral services for 88 year old Phillip W. Baker, a resident of Pittsford, Vermont and formerly of Colton, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. Burial will be held in the spring in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Mr. Baker passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Shard Villa Residential Care Home in Salisbury, VT where he had been a resident for a short time.
Phillip is survived by two sons, Douglas and Tamie Baker, Pittsford, VT and David Baker; his two beloved granddaughters, Dana and Eamon McMahon and Morgan and Nick Trombley; a great-grandson, Gracen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Phillip was pre-deceased by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; his three brothers, Floyd, John and Clark; and a sister, Barbara Marshall.
Born in Potsdam, on June 22, 1929 to the late Gordon and Fontabelle Clark Baker, Phillip graduated from school and married Phyllis Williams on August 18, 1956. Phyllis passed away on October 29, 2010.
He worked for Reynolds Metals (ALCOA) in Massena for many years, retiring in the early 80’s. He also was a farmer and mechanic. Phillip enjoyed NASCAR races and spending time on Higley Flow talking to many people. Lately, he enjoyed his time with Project Independence in Middlebury, VT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Phillip’s memory can be made to Project Independence, Box 581, Middlebury, VT 05753; any local Hospice organization or just by simply doing random acts of kindness to help others.
