LOUISVILLE -- Mary C. Cassort, 73, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Friends and family may be received on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Mary was born on October 8, 1944 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of John and Catherine (Robinson) Cole. She graduated from OFA in 1964 and on October 29, 1966 she married David Cassort in Ogdensburg. He predeceased her on August 25, 2016.
While her kids were young she stayed at home to raise them and then started working in food service at Massena Central. She retired as Food Service Manager after 17 years of service. Mary enjoyed her trips to the casino for “lunch” always with her best friend Donna by her side. She was a member of American Legion and VFW Auxiliary, and a member of Louisville Fire Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary is survived by her four children, Rick and wife, Bridgett Cassort of Massena, Melissa Cassort of Louisville, Anthony and wife, Elba Cassort of Colombia, MD and Brett Cassort of Sherman Oaks, CA; four granddaughters, Maria, Alexandra, Victoria and Elizabeth; her siblings, Dawn McDonald of FL, Jane and John Jackson of Calgary Alberta, Canada, Jim and Heather Cole of Seneca Falls; a brother in-law, Enrico Leone; sister in-laws, Karen Cole, Linda Cole, Blanche Cole, Nancy Rickett, Joan Cole, Mary Ann Schloop, Colleen Cassort and Husband Kevin Robinson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Carolee Mayette and Janet Erwin; five brothers, Dusty, Peter, Jay, Jack and Ken Cole; brother in-law Ken McDonald, Paul Erwin and Leroy Schloop.
As Mary enters a new chapter, her children want to express their deepest gratitude for her everlasting love and her enormous compassion. Her hugs will be missed as they always made you feel that everything would be alright “I love you more” will forever be in our hearts.
