Madeline M. Nichols, Potsdam and formerly of Ellenburg, passed away on Thursday, June 3, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she had been a patient since May 19, 2010.
Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam. There will be a mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, June 7, at St. Mary’s Church at 11 a.m. in Potsdam with Rev. Garry Giroux, celebrant.
Entombment will follow the service at the Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Ellenburg.
Madeline was a school teacher in the Ellenburg Central and the Northern Adirondack Central School Systems. She retired in June of 1974 with 40 years of service. After the death of her husband Linus on March 5, 1997 she moved to Potsdam to be closer to her son and his family.
She is survived by her son Don (Ellen) Nichols; and three grandchildren, Sara of Massena, Matthew of Portland, OR, and Jennifer of Potsdam. She is predeceased by her husband Linus Nichols.
