Funeral services for Lois G. Chase, age 79, of Rensselaer Falls, will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at St. Raphael’s Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Chase passed away on June 3, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Chase is survived by three sons, Lee and Richard, both of Rensselaer Falls, and Robert and his wife, Diane, of Canton; four daughters, Mary Ellen Sansoucy and her husband, Thomas, and Debora Hannan and her husband, Thomas, both of Ogdensburg, Velma Gushea and her husband, James, and Lisa Hammond and her husband, Steven, both of Rensselaer Falls; two sisters, Cora Palm and her husband, Charles, of the Catskills, Charlotte Besio of Malone; and eighteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Wilma McManus and Marie Holland.
Mrs. Chase was born on June 10, 1930 in Heuvelton, the daughter of Mark and Velma (Henry) Glidden. She graduated from Canton High School. She attended Hepburn School of Nursing where she became a licensed practical nurse. She first worked for Barlow’s Nursing Home in Canton, known later as Moongate Nursing Home. She retired in1990 after twenty years of service.
She married James R. Chase on May 4, 1951 at St. Raphael’s Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1996.
Mrs. Chase was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Raphael’s Church. Mrs. Chase enjoyed reading, embroidering, ceramics and baking for her family. She loved cats and dogs and had many pets over the years.
