GOVERNEUR -- Graveside services for Leo E. Tallman, age 87, will be held in the spring at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ogdensburg. Mr. Tallman passed away at the University Hospital in Syracuse on Thursday, Jan 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving is his son, Leo Tallman Jr. of VT; a daughter, Lynn Cole of Hogansburg, NY; grandchildren, Samantha Tallman, Eileen Tallman, Amanda Denny, Lyndsay George, Johnathan Bucktooth, Katrina Bucktooth-Mills and Thomas Cole; along with great-grandchildren Zoe Mills, Savannah Santaceiro and Joseph Herne.
Leo was predeceased by his first wife Frances, his longtime companion Maggie Webster and his daughter Sharon Denny.
Leo was born on July 3, 1930 in Ogdensburg NY, a son of the late George & Louise (Casey) Tallman. He attended local schools for his education and enter the US Airforce after graduating high school. He received his honorable discharge and later married Frances Newcomb. The couple’s marriage later ended, and he again found love with Maggie Webster and spent the last 50 years with her until her death in 2014.
During Leo’s career, he worked for McCadam Cheese, Cain Products, Benson Mines and later as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Gouverneur. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, producing beautiful artwork, wood carving, being a jokester, socializing with others, and spending time with his friends and family.
