LOUISVILLE -- Kevin P. Tyo, 63, passed away on Monday August 27, 2018 at the University of Vermont Medical Center with his loving family by his side. A Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 where family and friends may be received from 11:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. at St. Lawrence Church in Louisville. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 P.M. at St. Lawrence Church with Rev, Mark Riley presiding. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
Kevin was born in Massena on August 15, 1955, the son of Paul J. and Elizabeth (Stokes) Tyo. He graduated in 1973 from Massena High School. He married Deborah Dumas in 1978. Together they had three children, Scott, Kari and Eric.
In 1998 Kevin married Terri Fye and they have a son Dylan.
Kevin worked in the auto body trade for several years and later transferred to General Motors in Massena, where he worked casting GM transmission cases. In 1991 he went to work at the Harte Haven Shopping Center as the maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 2018.
Kevin enjoyed anything that went fast. His passion for cars and NASCAR racing, led him to build and race modified Legend Cars with sons Eric and Dylan. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring a 2002 Ford Mustang with his son Dylan. When he wasn’t working on cars, Kevin enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and spending time at hunting camp with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terri, sons Eric and Dylan, his parents, Paul and Betty Tyo, and siblings Paula (Bob) LaPierre, Linda (Glenn) Cone, Judy Francis, and Tim (Lisa) Tyo along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Scott and Kari.
