Joyce M. Winters, age 74, of North Bangor passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone where she had been a resident since 2006.
Born March 27, 1937 in North Bangor she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Dumas LaBelle. She attended Country School in the Bangor area. She first started work for Elliott Slipper factory in Brushton and later worked for Seneca Grape in Sodus, New York. After moving back to North Bangor she was primarily a Housewife.
She enjoyed playing cards with her sisters, berry picking, sewing quilts and spending time with her grandchildren.
On July 7, 1956 she was united in marriage to Merle B. Winters. He survives.
Besides her husband she is survived by Vicky Winters of Brushton, Donna and David Roach of Brushton, Darius Winters and companion Donna Fish of Brushton, Milly Chapman and companion Kevin Pickering of North Bangor, Egbert and Lori Winters of North Bangor and George Winters of North Bangor; five grandchildren, Darren Chapman, Lorenzo Chapman, Ryan Smith, Austin Winters and Kevin Winters Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Tallman of Moira and Evelyn White of Moira; one brother, John LaBelle of Brushton; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by one daughter, Dora D. Winters; one step daughter, Shirley Ann Winters; seven sisters, Doritha Tuper, Doris Mitchell, Rubena Tuper, Rebecca Tuper, June Mayville, Deliana LaBelle and Mildred LaBelle; and two brothers, Darrell LaBelle and Donald LaBelle.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in West Bangor from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon with the Funeral service to follow at 12 noon, with the Rev. John Livergood officiating.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Brushton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church or to Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center.
