Janice (Jan) M. Howard, age 73, of 182 W. Barney Street, Gouverneur, passed away Sunday evening, November 14th at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Howard was born November 29, 1936 in Newton Falls, daughter of the late Ernest and Goldie (Rice) Trembley. Janice married Morton W. Howard on May 16, 1992.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, Morton; two daughters, Debra L (Ronald) Hance of Star Lake, and Pamela G. (Raymond) Lobdell of Canton; and a son, Paul S. (Cynthia) Given of Citra, Florida. They are the children she had in her previous marriage to Paul B. Given, Canton, which ended in divorce. The two remained close friends though the years.
Mrs. Howard is also survived by two step-children, Brent (Susan) Howard, New Jersey, and Gail (Warren) Dent of Washington; six grandsons, Robert Lachut, Jr. of Mohawk, Kurt Flubacher of Syracuse, Keith (Megan) Simmons of Warners, Gary Given of Florida, Bryant Given of Florida, and Justin Lobdell of Canton; three step-grandsons, Justin Gillam of Florida, Greg and Steven Howard of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Laura Flubacher of Star Lake, and Brittany Given of Florida; a step-granddaughter, Rose-Anna (Chris) Baxter of Norfolk; two brothers, Ernest (Jr.) (Jean) Trembley of Indiana, and Charles (Pat) Trembley, Sr. of Newton Falls; three sisters, Faye Ploof of Woodbridge, VA, Sharon (Norman) Maccrimman of Oswegatchie, and Sandra (Gary) Gish of Star Lake; four great-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janice was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Goldie Trembley; and a son-in-law, Art Flubacher.
Janice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a very loving person. She was the one they all went to when they needed someone to talk to or share things with, and was the “heart’ of her family. She will be missed dearly.
There are no calling hours. There will be a memorial service in the Cranberry Lake Cemetery on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Pieter Visscher, of the Western Adirondack Presbyterian Church, officiating. French Funeral Home, Gouverneur is handling the arrangements.
