James S. Laboda, 69, formerly of Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for James S. Laboda, age 69, of Lockport, NY and formerly of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 2:00PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Justin Thomas officiating with military honors.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00AM to 1:30PM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, prior to funeral services.

A Gathering for Family and Friends will be held at the Wellness Holistic Healing Center, 813 State Street, Ogdensburg, following the funeral.

Please use the front door. Mr. Laboda passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning on January 27, 2018, at his home in Lockport, NY.

James is survived by three children, Nick Laboda and his wife, Jenna, of Saratoga, NY, Shelby Garigen and her husband, Thomas, of Clarence Center, NY and Megan Osgood and her husband, Nate, of Ogdensburg, NY; two sisters, Debbie Sullivan and Donna Logan and her husband, Jack, both of Ogdensburg, NY; a brother, Robert Laboda of Rochester, NY; a step-mother, Marie Laboda, of Philadelphia, PA; a step-sister, Mary Lee Farrell; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a step-brother, Danny Farrell.

James was born on January 17, 1949, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Ralph and Mildred Robinson Laboda.

He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1964 and went on to graduate from Canton ATC with an Associate’s Degree.

James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged.

James at one time was the owner of Oscar’s, The Lion’s Den and The White House in Ogdensburg. He later went to work at Fort Drum as a Mechanic and then became the Director of the Parks and Recreation Center in Fort Drum, NY.

James enjoyed fixing things. He enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
