HELENA -- Mrs. Hope V. Cole, 82, a longtime resident McIntyre Road, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018 at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 2016.
Hope was born September 26, 1935 at the family home in Brasher Falls, the daughter of the late Rex and Nancy A. (Eamon) Hampton and was a 1954 graduate of St. Lawrence Central School. On July 30, 1955, she married Arthur C. “Junior” Cole at the “little white church” in Helena with Rev. Charles Montgomery, officiating. He predeceased her on April 25, 2004.
Hope was a homemaker, dedicating her life to raising her family. She also worked for a short time at the Springs Fruit Market. She enjoyed sitting on her porch visiting with her friends and family, reading, and walking. She was a longtime member of the Massena Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall.
Hope is survived by her sons, Alan Cole and Craig and Susan Cole, all of Helena; her daughter, Beth Cole and companion, Bill White, II, of Brasher; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her brother, Gerald Hampton of Massena; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Hope was predeceased by two sons, Kevin T. Cole on September 13, 1981 and Jody A. Cole on November 13, 2010; her brother, Ronald Hampton; and her sister, Constance “Connie” Brownell.
Friends may call Saturday 3-5:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held in the spring in Carville Cemetery, Helena.
