CANTON -- Frances Kathryn Low Chilson Finch, age 86, died on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Ohio Dayton Hospice after a short illness.
She was born in Ada, Oklahoma on June 1, 1931.
She was married to Carl W. Chilson (dec) from 1953 to 1973 and was married to Thomas L. Finch (dec) from 1980 to 2003. Both were SLU professors.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn O’Gorman of Kettering Ohio, son, Douglas W. Chilson of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daileass and Edward.
Frances graduated with a degree in chemistry from Oklahoma State University and a master’s in library science from the University of Michigan.
She lived in Canton, New York for 60 years during which she worked at SUNY Potsdam Library for over 25 years and was treasurer for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton.
She loved to travel, especially to her cottage in Door County, Wisconsin.
She loved pipe organs and was an active member of the Organ Historical Society.
She loved to read, especially mysteries and the Economist magazine.
Celebrate her life with her family at a Graveside Service of Remembrance on Sunday, July 15, Fairview Cemetery, 90 Minor Street Rd., Canton, NY Sunday, July 15, 2018, 9:30 am and at 11:30 am in the Common Room at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton.
