Funeral services for Claire S. Felten, age 84, of Peru, and formerly of Lisbon will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Felten died Wednesday (Feb 23, 2011) at her home in Peru.
Surviving is her son, John Felten and his wife Elaine of Battle Ground, WA; a daughter, Susan Tourville and her husband Christopher of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Janelle Felten, Memory Felten, Christopher Tourville and Madisen Tourville; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband John E. Felten predeceased her in 2005.
Mrs. Felten was born on July 7, 1926 in Ridgewood, a daughter of the late Richard and Jessica (Cook) Seinsoth. She graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1944 and began working at the Coca Cola Export Plant in New York City. On September 10, 1955 Claire married John E. Felten at the Church in the Gardens in Forest Hills with Rev. Franklin Cole being the celebrant. In 1972, the couple moved to Lisbon, NY and she began working in the Relations Department at St. Lawrence University until 1989 when she retired.
Claire was a member of the Lisbon United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed walking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
