Funeral Services for Cherraetta Recore, age 78, of 508 Main Street, will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will follow the funeral services in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Recore passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Cherraetta is survived by one brother, Carl Montroy of Pheonix, NY; three sons, Stephen Ashley and companion Lorri Larock, Allen and Maryanne Ashley and Randy Ashley all of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Suzanne Ashley and Michelle Betrand and her companion Mark Brossoit, also of Ogdensburg. She is also survived by four stepchildren Marilyn Larue (Ogdensburg), Christina Lintz (Florida), and Paul Recore Jr. (Syracuse). She was predeceased by one brother, Cassius Montroy, and a stepchild Alan Recore. Cherraetta had 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Cherraetta was born on September 17, 1934 in DePeyster, the daughter of William and Nina Ward Montroy. Cherraetta attended Heuvelton Central School. She was first married to George E. Ashley with the marriage ending in divorce. She later married Paul K. Recore in October 26, 1974 at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg. Paul predeceased her on May 5, 1985. She had a long time companionship with Frederick M. Conger Sr., who predeceased her in May of 2008. Cherraetta was employed by Diamond National in Ogdensburg until her retirement. She also cleaned private homes and did volunteer work at the Notre dame Rectory for 25 years. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, going for rides in the mountains, gardening and watching the hummingbirds.
