Mr. Bruce L. Berger, 73, of 400 South Main St., Massena, passed away Tuesday evening, May 18, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Bruce was born November 5, 1936 in Potsdam, the son of Robert S. and Virginia Ruth Rose Doutre Berger. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After discharging from active duty, he served for many years in the Reserves, where he was an active scuba diver.
He worked in the maintenance department at Hutchins Psychiatric Center in Syracuse for 12 years. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, working on vehicles, and could build or fix anything.
He is survived by his children, Angie Bonavita and her husband, Louis of Cazenovia, Bruce L. Berger, Jr. of Camillus and Martha Berger of Liverpool; four grandchildren; and three siblings, Shelly Moriarty, Carol Chapney, and Roger Berger. He was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
A memorial service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, with Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Rob Schirmer, officiating.
