CLIFTON – A 49-year-old woman from Long Lake was evacuated by boat out of the Five Ponds Wilderness area in southern St. Lawrence County Sept. 12 because she was in medical distress.
The Cranberry Lake fire and rescue squad and state Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers responded about 9:30 a.m. after a Personal Locator Beacon was activated near Chair Rock Flow on Cranberry Lake.
The woman was evacuated out by boat to an awaiting Cranberry Lake rescue squad ambulance and taken to an area hospital for additional medical treatment, DEC officials said.
