Winter storm warning remains in effect despite calm so far; snow expected to continue through Friday

While a winter storm warning remains in effect for St. Lawrence County, the expected storm has so far been calmer than anticipated.

While some North Country schools closed or delayed opening, including Massena, Colton-Pierrepont, Morristown and Heuvelton, many St. Lawrence County residents woke to little more than a few inches of slushy snow Tuesday morning.

Although the National Weather Service is still predicting snow for the remainder of the week, forecasters have downgraded the expected amount of snow for the remainder of the day. A total accumulation of one to three inches for Tuesday is anticipated, with an additional accumulation of an inch predicted for Tuesday night.

Snow will likely continue tomorrow, with the National Weather Service predicting an additional accumulation of less than an inch.

Snow is expected to continue Thursday and Friday, with the sun to finally reappear Saturday with a high in the mid 30s, according to the weather service.
