A state wildlife management area in Macomb and DePeyster, Fish Creek, is now open for public use, according to the Department of Envionmental Conservation.
The state spent $15,000 to add a waterway access site to improve access to the 4,500-wildlife management area. It includes five parking spaces and a trail to a car-top boat launch for canoes and kayaks, according to the DEC.
It is 8 miles south of Ogdensburg and 1 mile south of Black Lake, just off state Route 58, on county Route 7 in Pope Mills.
It consists of a 2,046-acre natural wetland, most of which is forested.
