CANTON -- Canton jam rock band Waydown Wailers have made it through the first round of the NYS Music’s March Madness 2016 brackets.
Voting for the second round began at noon on Friday, March 11, and closes at midnight on Sunday, March 13.
The Third Round begins at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 15 with the remaining 16 teams.
The contest features 64 New York state bands organized by region. They are matched in 32 pairs and people vote for their favorite in each pairing.
People who submit votes need to hit a button at the end of each region to cast votes. There are a total of four.
The bands will compete through six rounds of voting, culminating with a statewide winner.
This is Waydown Wailers’ first year in the contest.
