CANTON – Canton’s own Waydown Wailers’ most recent Woodstock Records recording “Backland Blues” hit Number 5 on The Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Blues Rock Album Chart in June.
The band’s third recording on Woodstock was produced by Aaron L. Hurwitz and features the earthy tones the band is known for, characterized as “blues to swamp rock to Americana.”
This newest album by the Double W features eight original tunes penned by guitar slinging brothers David and Christian Parker and drummer Mike Scriminger.
Three classics, “Done Somebody Wrong” by Elmore James, “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” by Larry Williams and the Byrds’ “Lover of the Bayou,” round out the recording.
Bass player Connor Pelkey’s melodic playing with Parker brothers guitars and vocals and the solid rhythm by Scriminger is joined by keyboardist Professor Louie and vocalist Miss Marie on “Backland Blues.”
