MASSENA -- A waterline replacement project on state Route 37 will cost $34,000.
The Village Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved spending that amount to hire Daman Construction of Blossvale to fix the line that runs roughly between Monro Muffler and Burger King.
Department of Public Works Superintendent Hassan Fayad said Daman specializes in the type of project they need. It will run a torpedo-like device through the existing line, rupturing it and at the same time installing a three-inch plastic pipe.
“It’s an extremely specialized field,” Fayad said.
He said they should start and finish before the snow comes.
Per state regulations, they will also have to do soil borings to determine the ground’s composition, but Fayad said that shouldn’t hold up the work.
