POTSDAM – Winners of 2011 Walker Fellowships Angelena Ross and Susan Willson will receive funding for North Country bird research projects. Ross, an adjunct professor of biology at SUNY Potsdam, will receive funding for her project, "Evaluation of Spruce Grouse Habitat Management Methods in Lowland Boreal Forest with Respect to Spruce Grouse and other Boreal Forest Birds in the Adirondacks of New York." Willson, an assistant professor of biology at St. Lawrence University, Canton, was awarded a Walker Fellowship for her project, entitled "Bird-Friendly Hayfields as Refugia for North Country Grassland Birds." The $5,000 grant funding is an ongoing effort of the T. Urling and Mabel Walker Research Fellowship Program, administered by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Potsdam.
