POTSDAM – The village is receiving a grant of $154,800 from the US Department of Transportation for a new multipurpose Trackless vehicle for use at the Potsdam Municipal Airport/Damon Field.
The machine is a larger version of the machine that is now used to clear sidewalks of snow in the village.
It will be used for airport maintenance tasks such as lawn mowing and snow removal, according to Village Administrator Greg Thompson.
The grant represent 95 percent of the cost of the machine. The village will pay the remaining five percent of the total cost.
The grant for the airport maintenance machine comes the through the Federal Aviation Administration, an arm of USDOT.
