By CRAIG FREILICH
POTSDAM -- One person is reported dead in what is believed to be a domestic violence incident at Swan Landing in Potsdam.
A body was in view on the porch of one of the townhouses in the development north of Maple Street along the Raquette River shortly before 4 p.m.
State police on the scene confirmed they are investigating a shooting and stabbing at the townhouse.
State Police Sgt. Snell confirmed they are working with Potsdam Police and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office on the investigation.
However, neither he nor any of the other officers would identify any of those involved and would not provide further details.
One report, not confirmed by any authority, says a Potsdam Police officer was involved in the shooting.
As many as 15 police vehicles from various local agencies and an Potsdam Rescue Squad ambulance were on the scene.
They included Potsdam Police, Sheriff’s Department and state police.
The ranking state police officer at the scene said some details might be released soon.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
