CANTON -- University Chorus is accepting new members for the Spring 2018 semester.

As Canton's community chorus, University Chorus brings together the vocal talents of students, faculty and staff, and community members. They perform a varied repertoire in theme-oriented concerts, often with instrumental accompaniment, in the best tradition of American community choral-singing.

Movie Songs from the golden age of cinema (1930-1965) is the theme for the concerts scheduled in April. Hits made famous by artists such as Judy Garland’s “Zing Went the Strings of My Heart,” Fred Astaire’s “They Can’t Take That Away,” Bing Crosby’s “Swing on a Star,” Frank Sinatra’s “High Hopes,” Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain,” Doris Day’s “Love Me or Leave Me” and more will be featured in a delightfully fun and nostalgic program.

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:45-9:15 p.m. in Griffiths Arts Center, Room 15, beginning on Jan. 23. New members will be accepted until the second rehearsal on Jan. 30.

Concerts will take place on Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in Pickens Hall in Heuvelton, and on Saturday, April 14, at 8 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall.

For membership information, feel free to attend rehearsal, email director Barry Torres at btorres@stlawu.edu or call 315-323-8038.
