CANTON -- Three young adults have been charged following an undercover investigation of vandalism, according to Canton Police Chief Lori McDougal.
The undercover detail was initiated following several reports of criminal mischief in the Riverside Drive area over the past few weeks, she said.
“It was productive and with the aid of nearby video-surveillance, we were able to identify our suspects,” she said.
The three local students charged include:
• Ricardo L. Eugenio, 19, Mamaroneck, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, for throwing a brick through a car window at 52 Riverside Dr. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to court May 13.
• Joshua L. Geller, 18, Monroe, was charged with petit larceny for stealing a bicycle and a rake from a residence on Riverside Drive. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Canton court May 6.
• Spencer C. Landry, 21, New Hartford, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Landry also stole a bicycle from a Riverside Drive residence. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to court May 13.
McDougal said police are continuing to monitor the area and that they also have leads for those responsible for shooting BBs through windows of residences and vehicles.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, police said.
The Canton Police Department was assisted by SUNY Canton University Police.
