ROSSIE – Two Jefferson County residents were charged with possessing a total of 48 cartons of untaxed cigarettes Thursday.
State police charged Amie L. Zehr, 29, 49 Liberty St., Carthage, and Amber L. Peck, 28, 27882 State Rt. 342, Lot 220, Black River, with the misdemeanor charge of possession of untaxed cigarettes at a U.S. Rt. 11 check point.
Peck was in possession of 17 cartons of untaxed native cigarettes. Zehr was in possession of 31 cartons of untaxed native cigarettes.
Both women were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Rossie Court on Dec. 7.
