POTSDAM – Two people were transported to a Burlington, Vt. Hospital with serious injuries Wednesday night following a two-vehicle crash on NYS Hwy. 345, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said a vehicle operated by Shelby L. Blackmer, 31, of 208 Cowan Rd., Canton, failed to stop at a stop sign on the Barker Road and struck a vehicle driven on NYS Hwy. 345 driven by Gregory M. Fisher, 45, of 127 Perry Rd., North Bangor.
The Blackmer vehicle overturned and came to rest in a field, deputies said. The Fisher vehicle also landed in the field.
Blackmer was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad then transferred to Burlington, Vt. for internal injuries, deputies said.
A passenger in the Fisher vehicle, Marjorie Fisher of Madrid, was taken to CPH and also transferred to Burlington for hip injuries.
Deputies said charges are pending.
Deputies were assisted by the West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department, Potsdam and Canton rescue squad personnel and state police.
