Two Ogdensburg residents arrested on outstanding warrants after police discover large quantity of pot, scales and cash

OGDENSBURG – Two Ogdensburg residents were arrested Wednesday on warrants after the Ogdensburg Police Department K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle the subjects were in at the overlook area at Trafalgar Dam off Mill Street.

Police say that that around 5:25 p.m. an officer noticed a vehicle parked in the overlook area at the Trafalgar and inside the vehicle were two subjects who had active warrants for their arrest.

Due to officers' observations the department's K-9 officer was called to the scene. After a positive K-9 alert and subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of marijuana, scales, packaging material and cash.

Jennifer M. Ross, 30, 202 Ford St., Apt #3D, was charged on outstanding arrest warrants for endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree attempted assault. She was also charged with a bench warrant for failure to appear for a prior court date in Ogdensburg City Court.

Matthew J. Pearson Jr., 25, 812 Washington St., was charged on an outstanding Ogdensburg City Court bench warrant for revocation or release under supervision of probation. As a result of the vehicle search he was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, felony; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for possession of alprazolam.

Pearson was additionally charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, all felonies and four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.

Those charges stem from an investigation into Pearson's sale of crack cocaine and heroin in Ogdensburg,. He is also wanted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department on a St. Lawrence County Family Court warrant, and a warrant from the New York State Police.

Both subjects are being held in city lockup pending arraignment.
