POTSDAM -- Two people from Nicholville have been arrested by village police after they allegedly tried to return an item for cash at the store from which the item had been stolen.
Police say that a local business told them Tuesday afternoon that the two fled from the store after trying to return a Honeywell digital programmable thermostat valued at $69.99 that had been previously stolen from the store.
Police say information the store management gave them led patrols to intercept the vehicle the two are alleged to have left the store in.
Police have charged Kenneth T. Snyder, 31, and Stephanie M. Niles, 23, with fifth-degree possession of stolen property. They are scheduled to appear in village court on Aug. 4.
