GOUVERNEUR -- Two Gouverneur Correctional Facility inmates were charged Wednesday with alleged assaults on corrections officers reported to state police last December.
Joe L. Abreau, 28, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a CO with a pen during a cell extraction.
Troopers reportedly charged him with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and four counts of the misdemeanor of second-degree menacing.
Troopers said the alleged assault took place Nov. 2. A state police blotter entry says the incident was reported to investigators just over a month later on Dec. 3.
Bryan K. Wright, 25, is accused of punching two COs when they entered his cell to check on him, troopers said.
He is facing one felony count each of second-degree assault and assault of a police officer, firefighter or EMT. He too was reportedly held in custody, troopers said.
Troopers said the alleged incident took place Oct. 26. The blotter says it was not reported until Dec. 7.
Each inmate was arraigned Wednesday in Fowler Town Court.
Both incidents are still under state police investigation.
