RENSSELAER FALLS – Two men face burglary and other charges after they allegedly stole $900 worth of cigarettes from Chapin's General Store Tuesday, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies.

Jeremy D. Davis, 19, 54 Dubois Rd., Hammond, and Colman S. Legault, 20, 503 Crescent St., Ogdensburg, were both charged with third-degree burglary, and petit larceny, while Davis was additionally charged with third-degree criminal mischief, according to deputies.

Deputies allege the two broke into the front of the store through a broken window and stole approximately 90 packs of cigarettes valued at approximately $900.

Both were arraigned in Canton Town Court. Davis was held on $2,500 cash bail. Legault was released to the supervision of probation.

Both are slated to reappear in court on Sept. 7.

The investigation is continuing with further arrests expected, deputies said.
