OGDENSBURG -- “ZBurg,” a web series written and directed by Mark Valley, is set to be released late summer, according to an update posted by Valley on Facebook.

The series was created by Valley and local filmmaker, musician and business owner Ethan Henry.

“We are finishing editing up the first season (15 episodes total) and it’s coming along well. Meanwhile, I’ve submitted the pilot episodes to some film festivals in the web series/new media category -- Fingers crossed everyone,” Valley said in his post.

The series was shot in Ogdensburg using local actors, musicians, artists and filmmakers.

It focuses on the amphetamine epidemic and competition for drug territory that hits a forgotten city on the Canadian border, according to the synopsis.

“Haunted and sidelined former BCI detective Harry Mallette has to negotiate with  a violent nemesis, peculiar misfits, petty thieves and wayward youth in his hometown to solve the murder of a local meth dealer,” the synopsis says. “Over the course of the season (14 episodes of 7-8 minutes each) we see that no one character is exactly who they seem at first glance. We see the personal struggles and motives of those who remain, hustling to survive in a post-industrial town coming to terms with it’s own decline. Even Harry has a hidden past that’s brought him back and may just keep him there.”

Valley offered appreciation to some of those who helped.

“Nick LeDuc’s guitar fits the show perfectly. Ethan (Henry) added some cool music. My cousin Michael LaShomb has added a really great song we hope to use. Morgan Elliot has started working on a trailer too,” he said in his update. “We’re looking at a tentative online release date of September 2nd, 2018. Thanks to the production guidance of Erin Cole, and to Chip Bracy for his social media work so far. He’s found a new valuable local asset in Dylan Polniak. We are very fortunate to have his help with upgrading the website, and leading our promotion as we get closer to rolling out episodes. Hope to see everyone this summer, thanks for your continued support.”

“Zburg” will be available to stream on Youtube, Vimeo and Facebook.

Valley has had a fairly prolific acting career, starring in the television series “Fringe” and the “Human Target.” He also starred as a voice actor in the animated feature “The Dark Knight Returns” as Superman and Batman.
