LAWRENCE -- A turkey in the road resulted in men from Brasher Falls and Winthrop being charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday afternoon.
State police report that David G. Brothers, 50, 18 Congress St., Brasher Falls, was westbound on County Rt. 54 in Lawrence when, trying to avoid a turkey in the road, he lost control of his vehicle and went off the south side of the road.
A man who was driving behind Brothers, Thomas S. Frary, 40, of 9865 U.S. Rt. 11, Winthrop, stopped to help Brothers.
Troopers got the call for assistance at 3:40 p.m. Their investigation led them to believe that both men were intoxicated.
Brothers’ blood alcohol level was measured at .10 percent, and Frary’s at .15 percent, according to police.
Both were charged with DWI. Brothers was also charged with failure to keep right, and with possessing 4.8 grams of marijuana.
They will both appear later in Town of Lawrence Court.
